A quick note

Your board is made from solid hardwood and built for years of daily use. Like any good tool, a little care keeps it performing well. Follow the steps below and your board will stay strong, stable, and ready for the next meal.

After Each Use

Wash with warm, soapy water

After cutting, wash your board with warm water and a small amount of dish soap. Use a sponge or cloth to clean the surface.

Do not place your board in the dishwasher.
High heat and long water exposure will damage the wood and can cause cracking or warping.

Wash both sides

Even if you only used one side, wash both sides of the board each time. This keeps moisture balanced and helps prevent warping over time.

Drying Your Board

Towel dry first. After washing, dry the board with a towel to remove excess water. Stand the board upright Let the board finish drying standing upright on its edge so air can reach both sides. Avoid leaving the board flat on the counter or in a drawer while wet. Trapped moisture can cause the wood to warp or crack.

Storage

When your board is dry, store it where air can circulate.

Avoid:

• storing the board in a closed drawer
• leaving it flat on a damp surface
• leaning it somewhere with constant moisture

Solid wood needs airflow to stay stable.

Reconditioning Your Board

To keep the wood healthy, recondition your board with the wax included. This usually happens about every 6 months of regular use, or whenever the wood starts to look dry.

How to apply the wax

1. Place a small amount of wax on a rag or paper towel. 
2. Buff the wax into the wood using small circular motions.
3. Cover the entire surface of the board.
4. Use a clean rag or paper towel to wipe off any excess.

This restores the protective layer and keeps the wood from drying out.

A Few Things to Avoid

• Do not put the board in the dishwasher
• Do not soak the board in water
• Do not leave it drying flat on the counter
• Do not store it in a closed drawer while wet

Following the drying and storage steps above will prevent almost all issues.
